Lighting at home
Conroe is where Holiday Lights Texas is based, and it is the seat of Montgomery County, about forty miles north of downtown Houston along Interstate 45. Being based here means we work close to home, and we know its streets, its trees and its weather firsthand.
This guide is written for Conroe homeowners who are thinking about professional holiday lighting. It covers what to consider for the kinds of homes and lots found here, how to plan and what to expect from the process. For the general picture of pricing and process, see our Conroe service area page.
The homes you find in Conroe
The housing stock around Conroe is varied. There are older homes near the center of town, newer subdivisions to the north and west and larger properties on bigger lots as you move toward the lake and the surrounding countryside. Single-story ranches, brick two-stories and farmhouse-style homes are all common.
That variety is useful, because it means most of the ideas in our design guides apply. A brick two-story calls for the approach in our brick two-story guide, a ranch for the ranch guide and a farmhouse for the farmhouse guide.
Trees and lots
Montgomery County sits in the piney woods transition, and many Conroe lots are wooded. Pines, oaks and other mature trees are common, and they shape the lighting plan in two ways. They offer natural anchors for wrapped trunks, and they can shade or crowd a roofline, so the lines need to be planned around them.
Wooded lots also mean falling needles, leaves and limbs. Tell us if gutters or rooflines collect debris, as it affects where we can fasten. Our tree wrapping guide explains the styles and the pricing by the strand.
Planning your season
The calendar is the same as anywhere. Thanksgiving this year is Thursday, November 26, and Christmas Day is Friday, December 25. Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 1, so sunset arrives earlier. Booking in September or October gives you the pick of dates, especially the week before Thanksgiving.
If you are a Conroe resident reading this later in the autumn, call (936) 499-8984. We will tell you honestly what is possible this season. See when to book for the full thinking.
Neighborhood and HOA checks
Many Conroe neighborhoods have homeowners associations, and rules vary. Some set dates for seasonal decorations, some regulate color and brightness and some have no rule at all. Check your governing documents or ask your management company before you book, and tell us what you find.
Our HOA guide explains what to ask. If you are on a board, see our HOA and community holiday lighting page.
What it costs
Our rates are the same across the area: $6, $8 or $10 per linear foot of roofline by height, $5 per foot of ground lighting and $37 to $42 per tree strand, with a minimum package of $799. A typical front roofline with a ridge cap falls between $800 and $1,500, and adding landscaping, tree wraps and walkways usually lands between $1,500 and $3,000.
Conroe is our home base, so these rates apply here as they do across the area. Use the cost estimator for a range, and see what a typical Conroe-area home costs.
Service you can count on locally
A local installer can respond quickly. In-season maintenance is free, and service requests are answered within 24 hours, seven days a week. If a section goes dark, a call brings someone who knows your display. That is a real advantage over a company that has to send a crew from far away.
Removal and storage are included in the price, so there is no January invoice and no box to store. You choose the takedown date, and the set returns next season already fitted to your home.
Getting started in Conroe
The easiest way to start is to request a quote. Tell us your address, send a photo and let us know your preferred dates. We return quotes within 24 hours, usually the same business day, and first-time customers receive $50 off.
You can also try the see your home in lights tool to preview a design on your own house before you decide.
Lake living and larger lots
Lake Conroe is a short distance away, and the neighborhoods around it include many homes on larger, wooded lots, some with water views. These properties often have long drives, multiple levels, decks and detached structures, and they reward a layered plan: the main roofline, the entry, the trees along the approach and perhaps a feature facing the water.
If your home has a view across the lake, remember that the display may be seen from the water and from the neighbors as well as the road. Tell us which sides matter to you. Larger and more complex properties are scoped on site, and we review them with a designer before final pricing.
Our guide to luxury and estate lighting explains how we approach these properties.
Older homes and newer subdivisions
Conroe has older homes with character, such as detailed trim, varied rooflines and mature landscaping, and newer subdivisions with consistent facades and fresh landscaping. Older homes reward a design that follows their detail. Newer homes reward a clean, consistent line.
In either, the process is the same. We measure, design and cut to the house, and the display looks as if it belongs to it. If you are unsure what suits your home, send a photo and we will advise.
Whatever the age of the house, tell us about the roof. Its pitch, material and condition determine how lights can be fastened safely.
Commercial and community lighting in Conroe
We also light businesses, community entrances and common areas. A storefront with a lit porch, a restaurant with a warm roofline or a neighborhood monument at its entrance all benefit from professional work. The principles are the same as for a home: a clean line, a consistent color and a plan for maintenance.

Common questions from Conroe homeowners
How soon can you quote? We return quotes within 24 hours, usually the same business day, and many estimates can be given over the phone once we understand the property. Can you work around my schedule? Yes. Tell us your preferred install and takedown dates and we build around them, confirming in advance.
What if I am not home? You do not need to be. Many customers return to find the display up and working. What about my trees? We wrap them with care, adjust for growth each year and remove everything at the end of the season.
Is there anything I should prepare? Keep access to the house clear, let us know about gates or pets, and make sure outdoor power works. Our guide to GFCI outlets and timers explains what we look for.
A short plan for a Conroe home
For many Conroe homes, a good first-year plan is a clean roofline in warm white, one or two wrapped trees at the front and a lit entry. If you have a wooded lot, let the trees do the work, and keep the roofline simple. If you have a larger property near the lake, ask for a site visit so the plan can be layered across the whole lot.
Whatever the size, the process is the same: a quote within 24 hours, a design for your house and a program that handles maintenance, removal and storage.
