The short version
We collect the information you type into a form on this site so that we can quote your property and get in touch with you. We do not sell it, rent it or trade it. We do not run advertising retargeting pixels that build a profile of you across other websites.
Information you give us
When you request a quote, send us a message or claim an offer, you may give us your name, phone number, email address, property address, city, ZIP code, details about the property and any notes you choose to write.
We use that information for one purpose: to prepare and discuss your quote, schedule your installation and service your display. If you become a customer, we also use it to contact you about your installation, your removal date and any service issue during the season.
- We keep it for as long as we need it to serve you and to meet our accounting obligations.
- You can ask us to delete it at any time by calling the number below.
- We do not add you to a marketing list without your consent.
The lights preview tool and your photograph
The 'See Your Home in Lights' tool sends your photograph to Google's Gemini image model so that it can add holiday lighting to it and show you the result. We want to be exact about that, because an earlier version of this tool did the work entirely inside your browser and this page said so. That is no longer true, so the wording has changed.
Here is what happens when you use it. Your photograph is shrunk to 1280 pixels on its longest edge, inside your browser, before anything is sent. It is then transmitted once over an encrypted connection to our own server, which passes it to Google's Gemini API together with an instruction to add the lighting style you selected. Google returns a new image, we pass that image back to your browser, and the request is finished.
We do not store your photograph. It is not written to a database, a file store, a cache or a backup by us, and it is not written into our server logs — those record the size of the request and whether it succeeded, never the image itself. We do not use it to train anything. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except Google, who process it solely in order to produce the image you asked for. Google's handling of API inputs is governed by their own terms, published at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.
The preview image exists in your browser. If you then choose to price the design, the photograph and the preview are kept in your browser's session storage so the estimator can show them; that storage is cleared when you close the tab, and nothing leaves your browser until you ask for your PDF (see the next section). The preview tool does not send anything to our team, and nothing from a preview is attached to a quote request automatically.
If you would rather your photograph not go to Google, simply do not use the preview tool. It is optional and the rest of this site works normally without it. You can call us and describe your house, or send the photograph to us directly through the quote form and we will design it ourselves.
Estimates, measurements and your PDF
The 'Design & Price My Lights' estimator builds a price range from the answers and measurements you give it. Until you ask us to save it, everything stays in your browser. If you type an address, the text you type is sent to Google's Places service to offer suggestions, and if you open the map, your address coordinates are sent to Google (Maps and the Solar API, through our server) to show the aerial view and suggest where roof lines run. We do not keep that lookup.
When you press the button to get your estimate, a box asks you to confirm in plain words: 'Save my design and property details so Holiday Lights Texas can prepare my estimate.' Only if you tick it do we receive and keep your name, phone number, email, address, the measured lines, the look you chose and the price range. We send that to our customer system so we can follow up, and we keep it for as long as we need it to serve you and meet our accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete it at any time by calling the number below.
We do not store your house photograph or the AI preview, even when you save an estimate. When you download your PDF, your photograph and preview are sent to our server for those few seconds so the PDF can be drawn, and then discarded. The PDF is generated for you and not kept.
Your estimate also has a private link. The link carries the measurements, the look you chose, your first name and your city, signed so it cannot be altered. It does not contain your street address, phone number, email, photograph or preview. Anyone you give the link to can see those measurements, so share it only with people you trust.
Analytics
If analytics is enabled for this site, we use it to understand which pages are useful and where people stop reading. Analytics is configured to anonymise IP addresses, and it is only switched on when the site owner has configured a measurement ID.
We record events such as a quote request being submitted or a phone number being tapped, so that we can tell whether the site is doing its job. We do not record the contents of forms in analytics.
Cookies and local storage
This site does not set advertising cookies and does not use third-party tracking cookies. If the site owner enables Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager, those services may set their own cookies, governed by Google's policies.
Third parties who process data for us
- Our website host, which serves the pages you are reading.
- Our customer relationship management or form-routing service, which receives quote requests so that our team can respond to them.
- Google, whose Gemini image model generates the lighting preview if you choose to use the lights preview tool. Google receives your photograph for that purpose and nothing else.
- Google, whose Places, Maps and Solar services suggest addresses, show the aerial view and estimate roof outlines if you use the estimator's address and map features.
- Our abuse-protection services (a bot challenge and a rate limiter), which see your IP address briefly to stop automated misuse.
- Analytics providers, only where a measurement ID has been configured by the site owner.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call us on the number below and we will action it. We may need to keep limited records where the law or our accounting obligations require it.
Children
This site is intended for adults arranging a service. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described on the page rather than made quietly.
