The calendar dates that matter in 2026
Three dates shape the season this year. Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 1, which pulls sunset earlier and makes the first evening your lights come on feel like the start of the season. Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. Christmas Day is a Friday, December 25.
Thanksgiving week is the most requested install window. If you want your display up before the holiday, the practical advice we give every year is to book in September or October, because autumn is when our schedule fills and the customers who book first get the dates they want.
If you are reading this later than that, call anyway. Dates move, and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Step 1: the quote
It starts with a quote request through the website, a photo or a phone call to (936) 499-8984. We return quotes within 24 hours, usually the same business day, and many estimates can be given over the phone once we understand the property.
The cost estimator gives you a range in a few minutes, and the final price is confirmed after we verify the property on site, including roof pitch, access and tree sizes. If we need to see it in person we arrange a time that suits you rather than asking you to wait for a callback.
Step 2: design and measurement
Once you say yes, the design is settled: which rooflines, whether to add ridge cap, trees, walkways or beds, and which color or mix of colors. We will tell you honestly what suits your architecture, because warm white flatters brick and stone, crisp white reads best against dark façades, and multicolor looks better paired with white at ground level than used everywhere.
Your rooflines are measured and the runs are cut to length before anything goes up. That is the custom-cut step, and it is why the install itself goes quickly.
Step 3: choosing your install date
Tell us your preferred install and takedown dates when you request the quote, and we build the schedule around them. We confirm dates with you in advance rather than turning up unannounced.
Many customers choose to have the display installed in early November and left switched off until after Thanksgiving. We set it up and leave the timer off, which takes the pressure off the busiest weeks of December.
Step 4: install day
Most single-family homes are completed in a single visit. Larger properties, such as multi-structure estates, long driveways and extensive tree work, can take longer, and we give you the expected duration in your quote.
You do not need to be home. Many customers come home to find the display already up and running. We use the access equipment the property needs, clip the lights with fasteners matched to the surface and configure the timer before we leave.
Step 5: the season
From the day the lights go up until takedown, maintenance is ours. If part of the display goes dark, call and we come back out. Service requests are answered within 24 hours, seven days a week, and in-season maintenance is free.
What to expect from that service is covered in what happens when a bulb goes out.
Step 6: takedown and storage
You choose when the lights come down. Some customers take them down the day after Christmas, others leave them well into January. The removal is already covered by the price you paid in the autumn, and you do not need to be home.
The set is labelled and stored at our facility at no extra charge, so it returns next season already fitted to your house. See what to expect at takedown.
What can move your date
Weather is the main variable. Rain, high wind or a cold front can push an install back a day or two, and a good company tells you how it handles that before it happens. Ask us how a weather delay would work for your date when you book, and we will confirm install and takedown dates with you in advance.
Access is the second. Locked gates, dogs in the yard, vehicles parked against the house or a tree that has dropped a limb across a roofline can all slow a visit. If any of those apply, mention them when you book and we plan around them. You do not need to be home, but we do need to be able to reach the property.
The third is scope. Adding a tree, a walkway or a second structure after the date is set can extend the visit, so it is better to settle the design first. If you decide to add something late, call us and we will tell you whether it fits the existing schedule or needs a second visit.
A sample plan for a typical Texas household
Here is how a homeowner who wants the lights on for Thanksgiving week might sequence it this year. In September or early October, request a quote and settle the design. By mid-October, confirm an install date in early November. After daylight saving time ends on November 1 and sunset arrives earlier, the display is up and the timer is configured, either on or waiting for the weekend before Thanksgiving on November 26.
Through December the display runs on its timer and any problem is a phone call. After the holidays, you choose the takedown date, and the set goes into storage until next season. At no point does the homeowner need to climb a ladder, store a box of strands or remember to switch anything on.
If you are reading this in late autumn, the plan compresses but the steps are the same. Call us, tell us your date, and we will tell you honestly what is possible this season.
If your date is tight
Not everyone starts in September. If you are inside a few weeks of an event, such as a family gathering or a party, tell us the date when you call. We will tell you honestly whether it is possible and, if so, what we would need from you to get there. Quick decisions help: the sooner the design and price are settled, the sooner a date can be offered.
If your preferred date is not available, ask about nearby ones. A day or two either side can make the difference.
Whatever the timing, we confirm dates with you in advance. Nothing is a surprise on install day.
Common questions about the schedule
Do I need to be home? No. Many customers come home to find the display already up. Can I move my date? Yes, within reason, and the sooner you tell us the better. What if it rains on install day? Weather can push a visit back, and we confirm any change with you. Can I add something after the date is booked? Usually yes, though a late change may need a second visit.
If your question is not here, call (936) 499-8984 or read our FAQ.
Where to start
Every timeline starts with the same two steps: get a number and pick a date. The cost estimator gives you a range in a few minutes, and a quote request gets you a firm price, usually the same business day. From there the rest of the sequence follows without any need for you to manage it, which is the point of hiring a professional.
